Looking back, I suppose I haven’t had what many would consider a normal life. I played online poker in college and graduated from Sam Houston State University in 2006. That same year, the government passed the UIGEA Act, and I quit online poker. With a degree in business, you would think I would work at some oil company in Houston. Nope. I continued playing poker and found quite a few spots in the Houston area. Before long, I was playing or dealing cards nearly every night. In 2008 I decided to take my gig to Las Vegas. It only took me a year to figure out I didn’t like a casino on every corner, so I moved back to Texas.
In 2010, two friends and I opened our own poker spot. A year later I began working as an outside sales rep at Brawner Paper Company. I worked there for five years. In 2014, we had to leave our poker spot, but I kept dealing and playing around town. To this day, when I am in the States, I play in their games and still deal for my two friends, and I am grateful for that. A year later I met a cute blonde girl from Virginia. I resigned my position at Brawner Paper aboard a cruise ship off the Belizean coast in 2015. The next year, I married that pretty blonde, and we began traveling the world.
Our honeymoon let me touch Europe and Asia, leaving only Africa to complete all 7 continents. Touching all the continents was a dream I had since 2007 when I saw the summer solstice in Antarctica. Two years later, 2018, I got to Morocco, completing my quest.
Today we continue our travels. We write, and travel, and cook, and write, and travel some more. We traded our 3200 square foot mansion for a small condo on the lake. We own an even smaller condo in Thailand and try to spend four months of the year there. I’ve written one book, Sex before Dinner, which was published in September 2019 and is available on Amazon. The link is in my Books section where I hope to write more. You’ll find my writings of travel and finance to be the bulk of this site, but there will be others thrown in. Random poker stories, rants, raves, even some scrumptious recipes from my wife. She’s a world famous baker you know? She has three cookbooks, all available on my Books page as well. I recommend the Smores one, who doesn’t like Smores?! Enough of this About page. Happy reading!
